It’s the rare sexual history that contains no story of sexual shaming starting with a person’s first memory of sexuality through childhood, adolescent, and early adulthood experiences. In an attempt to make meaning, many stories of shame expand beyond the facts into long-standing conscious and unconscious narratives about sex, intimacy, self, trust and safety, often affecting individual and couple sexuality in confounding ways later in life.

This presentation will discuss how to identify sources of sexual shame and co-create therapeutic treatment frames to address sexual and emotional barriers to adult intimacy and connection. Case material will be discussed.
